GONE SO YOUNG.

THE LEGENDS.

Fans of 18-year-old ABS-CBN talent AJ Perez, who died in a vehicular accident in Tarlac early morning of April 17, used the Web to memorialize their idol. Queries on Perez dominated Yahoo! Philippines Search logs within a week of his tragic death. Users wanted to know read articles on Perez, view his photos, as well as know more details about the fatal car crash. Perez’s family later donated his corneas to an eight-year-old boy and 28-year-old Lawrence Villanueva.

MANILA, Philippines — A game where players use a slingshot to launch stylized wingless birds at pigs; a teen idol’s life cut tragically short; and even the act of laying horizontally in the most inappropriate places were among the hottest searches made by Filipinos on Google this year.

According to Google’s yearend zeitgeist or “spirit of the times” report, Angry Birds was the top searched term for the year. The Finnish puzzle game that first took flight on Apple’s iOS, has been steadily becoming popular among tech-savvy Pinoys and has even prompted the demand for Angry Birds merchandise this holiday season.

“The game continues to gain popularity with Pinoys, making it the fastest rising search term in the country,” according to Google’s press release Thursday.

AJ Perez, the 18-year-old heartthrob who died in a car accident in Tarlac last April, was the most searched celebrity among Filipinos for this year. Perez was declared dead on arrival at the hospital after his service vehicle collided head-on with a passenger bus along the McArthur Highway in Barangay San Julian, Moncada town past 12 a.m.

Meanwhile, planking, which zoomed to popularity as a form of protest in the Philippines, was also among the most searched terms. Although it did not top the list, Google said that at that time, it was one of the “fastest rising searches.”

“(It) became one of the hottest trends in the Philippines this year, even inspiring a traffic-stopping protest against rising oil prices in Manila in September,” it added.

Planking became so infamous, Quezon City Rep. Winston Castelo has filed House Bill 5316 that seeks to ban planking or die-ins, which in turn made the proposed law a Twitter trend last September.

“Planking now rears its ugly head as a form of redress of grievance against the status quo." Castelo said in filing the bill.

Last year, the Pinoy urban slang “Jejemon,” which was 2010’s reincarnation of “jologs” (meaning outdated, unkempt, not in style), and boxer Manny Pacquiao were among the top searches on Google.

“Sana, manalo ka, aj…
ipagdarasal ko…
kasi, nung mawala ka,
dapat marami ka pang nagawa…
kaya ngayon,
hinihiling ko…
makamtan mo sana ang tropeo.
tiyak niyan,
saan ka man naroroon…
maski hindi kita nakilala
nuong nabubuhay ka pa.
pero alam ko naman,
ay makikita rin kita.”

Here it goes:

Puro papicture at pa-autograph sila syempre.

Nagssearch sila ng new pictures of Aj.

To those attending the Candy Fair 2011, you need to bring your copy of Candy Magazine's September 2011 issue (with Ed Westwick on the cover) as your ticket entry to the event.

Now I miss AJ Perez :(.

AJ was a consistent "Candy Cutie" and attended the Candy Fair during his last three years (2008, 2009, 2010).

His brother Gello and parents reportedly are attending the Candy Fair 2011. (Probably Candy Mag is going to pay tribute to their favorite cutie AJ Perez at the said event.)

Antonello Joseph “AJ” Sarte Perez (February 17, 1993 – April 17, 2011)

AJ Perez is one of the most promising talents of Star Magic batch 13 which also includes Empress Schuck and Dino Imperial.

His April 30,2011 MMK episode was a high rater. Also, it is also considered as AJ’s best performance. Unfortunately, it was also his last.

On April 17, 2011, Perez had just finished a show in Dagupan and was riding an ABS-CBN service van on his way home with his father Gerardo, and four others. The driver of the van tried to overtake a trailer truck but collided with a Partas provincial passenger bus along MacArthur Highway in Barangay San Julian, Paniqui, Tarlac. He was declared dead on arrival at the Rayos-Valentin Hospital in Moncada, Tarlac at 12:10 a.m. Initial reports said that the cause of his death is “multiple head injuries”. The autopsy, however, revealed that his broken ribs pierced his heart and lungs thus causing his death
